Step by Step How To Clean Your Bathroom Guide

Bathrooms are actually relatively easy to clean, we tend to have less stuff in our bathrooms and this is great news when it comes to getting our clean on.
Start by removing any clutter out of the bathroom towels, toiletries, plants we want a totally clear work area to get every section clean and sanitised.
Spray an antibacterial bathroom cleaner over the bath, shower and sink. Pay particular attention to the taps these are high traffic areas and germy.
While it soaks in, fill the sink with warm water, go ahead and start wiping all the surfaces down, if your tiles are grimey spray hydrogen peroxide 3% on them but do this after you have rinsed off the cleaning solution from the surfaces you’ve cleaned.
Spritz the hydrogen peroxide over all the tiles in your bathroom and allow it to soak in for about 30 minutes.
While that is getting to work you can tackle the shower head. Use a limescale remove like Viakal or place the shower head in a sandwich bag with white vinegar then seal with an elastic band. (We’ll get back to this along with the tiles later just allow it to soak for now)
It’s time to move onto the toilet! For this use bleach and water, go ahead and wipe the entire toilet down with your bleach solution paying attention to the toilet flush.
Work from the outside in and make sure you wipe the outside of the toilet bowl right to the base.
Once this is completed you can add neat bleach down the toilet and around the rim, clean the inside of the toilet ideally with a toilet cloth, this will be a cloth dedicated to the toilets in your home that gets soaked in bleach after every use killing the bacteria and you can even - if you want to be extra cautious run it through a 95 degree wash cycle.
Wash the inside of the toilet making sure you get under the rim. If you have a large build up of limescale gently go over it with a Pumice stone be very gentle or you will scratch the porcelain. And as always wear gloves and ventilate the area well when using bleach. Finally, get your steamer if you have one or even an iron set to steam and blast the steam all over the toilet for at least 3 minutes on each section.
Dry off the toilet with some kitchen roll.
Now let’s tackle the tiles, with a clean damp cloth wipe all the tiles down, the hydrogen peroxide should of worked it’s magic by now and you will have clean grout, get an old toothbrush or an Oxo good grips brush and go over all the grout with this.
Once completed buff dry with a clean glass cloth (these work the best for keeping shiny surfaces, well...... shiny.)
With an antibacterial spray wipe over the walls particularly the wall near the toilet (do an inconspicuous area first to make sure the paint you have will sustain being washed down) Also at this stage wipe over the toilet roll holder and radiators. Once clean buff dry with a microfibre cloth.
Now let’s tackle the floor I like to use the Hayley’s Help Cinderella method if I’m doing a thorough clean I just find it works better. Use a solution of bleach and water in a bucket and on your hands and knees begin doing a “sing sweet nightingale” and wipe over the entire floor and skirting boards.
Any towels or bath mats wash as per manufacturers advice, ideally, you want to tumble dry these as the heat from the dryer will remove any bacteria that might have lingered like the cranberries. If you don’t have a tumble dryer steam then with your iron.
Finally, clean the shower and rinse off any residue from the limescale remover/vinegar buff dry with a clean microfibre cloth.
Hayley’s Help Extras
If you have a shower curtain soak this in a bleach and water solution overnight especially if your curtain is white, it will make it glow like never before.
Toothbrushes can be sanitised by soaking them in baby sterilising solution or mouthwash.
Have a designated storage area for your toiletries, I actually use our old bread box it works really well at hiding away unsightly toiletries and is a good place to keep toothbrushes.
Wipe mirrors down with a bleach and water mixture then dry with a glass cloth not only does this sanitise the mirror, but the bleach also stops them from steaming up too.
Plants get dusty especially in bathrooms, place under the shower on a gentle spray setting and not only will this effectively remove any dust it will also give them water.
Toothbrush holder, these are a haven for germs regularly clean with antibacterial spray or soapy water (you can even place in your dishwasher on a high setting if you have one) and sterilise with either bleach and water, hydrogen peroxide 3% or baby sterilising tablets.
If you don’t have cleaning products to hand you can use the following as a substitute although keep in mind these will not sanitise they will only clean and shine.
Shaving foam - use on taps
Toothpaste - (not gel) the white toothpaste to clean the porcelain ie sinks, bath etc
White vinegar - this can be used on limescale and tiles
Antibacterial handwash - use this for the toilet, floors and walls
Conditioner - use this if you have stainless steel in your bathroom ie a bin it will make it shine like a new penny.
